Art therapy meets fantasy role play.

The Vessel Project is a documentary series that uses cosplay as a therapeutic experiment. The first iteration follows two NYC-natives who create an alter ego around traits they want to grow into and prepare to take a portrait in-character.

In preparing for the shoot, the artists must overcome both creative and personal challenges to bring the elements of their character and portrait to life. As they re-familiarize themselves with old wounds to develop their Vessel, they are offered one motto as a guide—the only way through is deeper.
